Blog No. 157: Ultimate Frisbee Day
I woke up to JT's usual Saturday text. This time it was a little early, early enough so that JT couldn't deny getting me a ride or else he'd be too late, like the last time. XP
When I replied, he texted Let's see after the Fencing Tournament.
Then, some time later, he texted some options. Either he could stay through the tournament or get me. I read down further and it said, "Are you worth missing this good fun?"
How am I supposed to know if I'm worth it?
I thought, Oh, since he's having fun over there... He should stay and finish. So I thought I'd jokingly text back, "Well it's fine. I could argue that this would be one of those times that things didn't work out, but if you are having fun right now then who am I to stop it?" Seeing as we were kinda fresh from our previous argument over how things work out no matter what, (See "I'm a Pure Metallic..." Blog).
Big mistake. He started texting back to argue some more. The condensed version: He basically argued I should choose what I want instead of choosing what's good for others and what not.
The light at the end of the tunnel happened when I just said, "Seeing as you said the choice of staying at the tournament is more fun, while not the most wise choice for me to make, I chose the more selfless choice."
He replied, "Foolish."
"My name is David, thank you very much. XP"
Point being, JT called me later to tell me that he was on his way in ten minutes and get ready. I guess my options ended right there. XP
Anyways, Frisbee.
When JT and I arrived, there were only three other people there. Not exactly much to have a match of Ultimate Frisbee just yet. So we ended up throwing the disc around a few times until some other people arrive.
I ask myself every time after I run out of breath, Why am I doing this again? I'm not good at team sports! 'Twas why I went to a high school with no P.E. XD
Being in the shadow: Good for being over heated; Bad for pix messaging... So I edited it:
There. More colorful. XP
Anyway, I did make a few passes, a few catches, a few goals. I was basically good at just being conveniently around when needed, when I was actively cathing up with everyone.
The first game, I was on the losing team. The second game, I was on the winning team. I guess it made a difference in teammates, seeing as I hardly mattered. The first time around, I was stuck guarding Marshall, who ended up have me run for no reason, then, when I'm out of breath, runs out and catches the throws... The second time around, I guarded Zachariah for most of the time, and he was much lazier... That, and the second time around I had JT and Jeff, or "The Jolly Green Giant" and "Flash" as teammates. XP
After the start of the third game, after running between the goal lines a couple of times, I definitely felt like I was going to heave. As the blog readers should know, I have the phobia of vomiting, enough to pull a fetal postition thing. So I sat out the rest of the game. I had pulled out my sketchbook to finish a surprise sketch... But, as I was finishing half the shading, the guys called it a game and continued to ramble on about Call of Duty, Halo, and other 360 games. XP
Then JT drove me all the way home.
"I guess it all worked out!," I said as my departing words, "Not that I had much choice in the end." XD
"Sorry if I wasn't myself today," I did see a difference. He talked a little less than usual and he was a little on the grumpy side, on the count of being up for more than 24 hours! "But still, I had fun."
So, I guess I'm worth it. XP
