Yes Man

Blog No. 3: Yes Man

This is still my week of experimentation on blogger, so here's something else different.

Yesterday, whilst at the mall with KT, Sarah, Piper, and Tom, we saw Yes Man and I've got to say it's one of my favorite movies of all time.

If you really want to rain on my parade, here are some downers:

Yes: It is cheezy (cheeze- over the top dramatic and cliched) what with the predictable story plot and dramatic conflict.

Yes: It has Jim Carey in it.

Yes: It is very VERY much like Liar Liar. Also very predictable when tied with the first two.

Now for why I like it:

Yes: It made me laugh, and I mean genuinely laugh. I easily forget why Jim Carey is a comedic alumni. He could be annoying if you poke at the subject for too long. But me and Piper were literally laughing out loud in the theater. I could tell some others were annoyed by us, but we didn't care.

Yes: It made me look forward for tomorrow, at the risk of sounding cheezy. It had a message, an obvious message yes, but still an important message of enjoying life and being more open to everything. I totally wanted to start more projects now, maybe pick up the guitar again!

YES: It had Zooey Deschanel in it. How spontanneous can you get? Teaching a jogging photography class. Zooey fit the role perfectly, being the female lead as an artist who doesn't follow the stabillity of society and is comfortable in her skin. The movie sparked a popcorn fight and a jogging photography match between Piper and I. :D

Rating: 3.5 out of 4 thumbs up!

I'm Confused

Blog No. 2: Yes, I'm Confused.

So this is my first time using blogspot and I'm still getting used to it... So far I'm confused. I hope to have more savvyness with it soon because I want to be able to put in pictures and videos and junk to not make it this boring...

On another note, I want to try to pose a Q of the Day-type post, where I give an intro and ask a question that presents itself during the day. Here it goes:

I went to the mall today to meet KT, Tom, and Piper. We have this long running system with a teddy bear we call Lomo that is very much like the sisterhood of the traveling pants... Only not. Whenever we each have it, we each make additions to it documenting the times we experience apart, like when I added Edward Cullen's bracelet to it when we each went to the Twilight premiere at sperate locations. Then we hand the bear off to each other after a certain time.

The topic I brought up today with them was whether or not the teddy bear was gay.

I bought artsy pins from the ARR magazine release that had two humorous pins I wanted to give to Lomo. I hesitated to ask KT and Piper because one said "Please the Ladies" and the other "Please the Gents." But I didn't know which one I wanted to give to him. It was a unanimous vote that the bear was straight and I gave the appropriate pin.

But what if this were an actual child?

Yes this "child" was ficiontal, it would be weird to explain that it had two fathers and two mothers, but still in actuality the gender role standards are still there, fictional or not. Don't get me wrong. We all have diverse friends, including homosexual friends, and we support gay marraige. KT participated in that march in front of the capitol when Prop 8 was passed, and we all voted against it. But here's my question: What does it mean when we still prefer a child to follow gender standards?

happy new year (imported from myspace)

So my soon-to-be-brother-in-laws and their pals are doing this thing where they blog everyday, 365 days, for the entire year of 2009 as a new year's resolution. Sounds like a cool idea...

But I am NOT commiting to this.

I know my limits and I will not kid myself and believe I have the gumption of actually sitting down to blog everyday.
Which is why I'm going to do exactly that!

You see, if I announce the opposite of what I'm going to do, then, I hope, I I will live up to doing the opposite of what I announce. So here it goes:

Blog No. 1: happy new year!

My New Years was fun. I had a sleepover at Kaylah's with Isaac, Reshan, Esme, Jason, Terry, and Andrew. We toasted to the new year with fruity cider, we played apples to apples, tabboo, and connect four, and we watched some doug and a lot of will and grace.

I found that dogs like sleeping on my lap, I'm only good at tabboo if I'm recieving the questions from Jason, whose clues still doesn't make sense, and people will ALWAYS go for the nose if there is a reese's candy happy face on the table.

I also found, from apples to apples, that I am sultry, sleezy, stunning, and the Rolling Stones...

Also, Isaac is basically the almighty holy person when it comes to the entertainment, seeing as I hijacked all of his songs and movies onto my ipod. Of course, with what we did, I have to reload my original music my ipod had before back onto my ipod... Suck...

My New Years resolution? Stick to something long enough to relish in the benefits of accompishment...

Why I said 'relish' is unknown...
