The Resistance---Anberlin
Blog No. 18: Or Not...
This two word phrase can work with many things today.
I could be studying for my chemistry assessment test... Or not.
I could be sleeping in tomorrow... Or not.
My car's right rear blinker light could be working... Or not.
I could be driving my way to a driver's liscence on Friday... Or not.
In other words. It sucks right now.
In other news, I watched the movie The Truman Show, which I've apparently seen before but do not remember in the least bit.
The movie was about how a TV corporation adopts a child, then creates a perfect little world filled with actors and cameras everywhere, watching his every move, keeping him in the bubble to create a TV show of his life. I know that TV really strives for reality, but this is plain barbaric. The movie itself was very good. It centralized on this man, Truman Burbank, played by Jim Carey, as he starts noticing things that seemed out of place. Too sane, too ordinary.
At every turn, there is an intricate web of guards that keep this one man from escaping into the outside world. The TV exec controlled every aspect of his life as he grew up, including whom he would be best friends with and whom he ended up marrying. And the entire world watched this 24-hour show, growing up with his "Good morning and if I don't see you, good afternoon, good evening, and good night!" life. It really explores the question of if you could create the perfect, painless world, would you sacrifice their free will to put them in it?

Hey, I watched that movie too!
I don't think that I would take someones free will away from them like that.
But then again, Truman was an unwanted baby. They took him and made him one of the most watched and wanted persons in the world.
Nah, Still don't think that I would do it.
I hope that you can get your license soon.
Just keep thinking happy thoughts!
